zkdigital.com About Résumé Projects Brew Competition Online Entry & Management Better Beer Scores Homebrew Log Contact zkdigital dot com A digital portfolio of Geoff Humphrey About You really want to know? Oh, Hello... I know, right? Somebody gave me my very own website! You've stumbled across a small, short, and sometimes bumpy cyber highway frontage road. The digital portfolio of Geoff Humphrey. That's me on the right with the camera, plaid pants and all. Hey, it was 1976 and my mommy dressed me... I'm a full time corporate educator, manager, and instructional designer living and working in the 'burbs of Denver, Colorado. At the core of my professional experience is instructional design, applications of learning theory, curriculum development, and training. Since earning my undergraduate degree, my career path has led me through two venues, each affording their own unique experiences, rewards, and flavor. From 1995 through 2001 I was a professional educator in a public high school, serving at the same school each of those years, Colorado's Finest Alternative High School, now called Colorado's Finest High School of Choice . The controlled chaos of a high school classroom, along with great peer-mentors, provided me with the skills of instructional differentiation: using a variety of teaching methods with multiple intelligencies in mind. During that time my “learn by doing” philosophy developed and the foundations of sound instructional design were built. Since earning my Masters Degree the summer of 2001, I began working in a corporate environment at Metrolist, Inc. (now REColorado ), taking on roles of instructional designer, trainer, learning consultant, developer, and trainer mentor. My primary focus was adult learners — individuals with diverse needs and motivations for learning. Immediacy, utility, timeliness, and application of learned concepts are of primary concern to them. To achieve immediate application of learned skills, I incorporated a benefit-based learning philosophy and curriculum at Metrolist where the concepts introduced to learners are designed to be immediately useful, especially when presented in an experiential environment. Since then, I moved on to be an Instructional Design Manager Jones International University, where I worked with content experts to develop courses mainly in the Doctorate in K-12 Leadership, Doctorate in Adult Education Leadership, Doctorate in Business Administration, and Digital Media degree programs. Jones has since closed its doors, so to speak. Currently, I'm a Sr. Manager for Training Design at AT&T, where my focus is developing learning opportunities and programs for installation technicians for the Internet and Entertainment Field Services division. In addition to my full-time occupation, I also have a myriad of part-time ones, all of which I do at varying degrees of competency. Occasionally, my hobbies and occupations collide. Professionally, my interests include instructional design, learning interactions, distance learning consultation and production as well as online training consultation and construction. Personally, I enjoy family activities, traveling, concerts, music, photography, playing soccer, softball, and kickball, cooking, smoking meats, and brewing my own beer, mead, and cider . Why zkdigital? The ZK in zkdigital is in honor of my son, Zakary Kenneth Humphrey, who was two years old when I launched this site. Now, he's a young man heading off to college and is a bourgening freelance photographer. Check out his site, zakhumphreyphotography.com to see some of his work. Anyway, enough about me. Thank you for stopping by. Enjoy your stay.
